Yoga with Meg

I began practicing yoga in my early twenties. Around the time that I established H.E.A.R.T. Center, it became clear to me that I needed to share this path of healing with others. I trained with Amy Weintraub, founder of LifeForce Yoga, in early 2016 and again in 2018. LifeForce Yoga is designed to bring the body’s energy into balance, using mudra (hand movements), mantra (sound), pranayama (breathwork), sankalpa (intention/affirmation) and bhavana (imagery), along with asana (poses). The exercises do not require a yoga mat or attendance at a group class to reap the rewards. LFY specifically targets symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma, which in turn encourages peace, calm, and courage for personal growth.

Following my return from the Bahamas and Sivananda Ashram, I couldn’t wait to dive further into this journey, and I completed a yoga teacher training. The 200-hour training was devoted to Vinyasa flow, a very common form of asana (or movement poses) practiced in the West. The curriculum emphasized research in various paths to wellness, including nutrition, meditation, exercise, cognitive acuity, and a commitment to fun.

My aim is to bring the benefits of yoga (and there are many!) to children and adults, alike. I provide group and individual classes shaped to maximize joy, fun, and connection, which promote a doorway to deeper healing through enhanced awareness. By bringing the focus to the breath and body sensations, you can find safety and comfort within yourself, empowered by the capacity to listen to the wisdom of your body and choose your experience. My classes are not about pushing past limits or ignoring signals of pain in order to achieve some ideal, but rather to honor the relationship between spirit and body.

Mindfulness, meditation, breathing techniques (pranayama), mantra (sound), use of imagery (bhavana), and gentle movements may be incorporated into individual therapeutic sessions, as well, to assist with managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma.
